Raffle | Galgos del Sol

February 1st marks the end of the hunting season in Spain when many galgos reach the end of their 'useful' hunting life and are condemned to abandonment, mutilation and/or death. They are bred in excess for hunting but are discarded at the end of the season so the hunters won't need to care for them until hunting season begins again. 

February is also a month of love. So let's all show the houndies how much they're cared for. 

Winners will be drawn for the following prizes:

• Grooming voucher from Hawt Dogz (winner will be drawn from Dublin entries)

Each ticket is €2.50. To enter multiple times, simply add however many tickets you wish to your  basket. This raffle is open worldwide.

Raffle ends February 29th. Draw will be done March 1st.

A bit about the rescue:

Galgos del Sol was founded in 2007 by Tina Solera and her family after moving to Spain and encountering the mistreatment Hounds receive there. She decided to devote herself to their rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming.

The 200+ dogs reside in multiple kennel blocks with indoor/outdoor access, running water bowls and piped in music. There are multiple exercise areas, a quarantine block, puppy block, birthing and mum with new borns block, several smaller kennels for dogs that do not adapt well to big kennel life, a sensory walk for stimulus, a memorial garden for respite and agility areas for training. There is a reception building, two residences for full-time onsite volunteers, sleeping pods for short-term volunteers, the education building for school age programs, a free standing kitchen and multiple storage areas. Granny Pants Place houses the vet clinic, including a fully functional Operation Room, a grooming salon and a storage room.The GDS local and international volunteer program has proved a great success for socializing the dogs. GDS strives to provide the very best for the dogs while they are waiting to be adopted into forever homes.
